Community Planting

Starting in 2012, we embraced the Kendal-in-Bloom Community Planting Scheme to brighten up the estate and 6 volunteers turned out on a cold and wet November morning to plant hundreds of bulbs – funded by South Lakes Housing – in 5 of our grassed areas.

This was followed in Spring 2013 with the planting of 27 trees and shrubs in 11 grassed areas, all funded by Kendal Town Council.

Our efforts were rewarded that Summer, when Cumbria in Bloom presented us with an It’s Your Neighbourhood award.

But we didn’t stop there as this is an ongoing project and so, in Spring 2014, 9 volunteers planted 30 saplings kindly donated by The Woodland Trust in more of our grassed areas, mostly on Well Ings.

We are now seeking funding to plant another 500 bulbs this Autumn. So, if you’d like to help with this, please get in touch.
